Seminar Speakers:
Dr. Claire Whitehead, DMV has been working with alpacas since 1989
when her family acquired their first alpacas. The family farm grew rapidly and for
the last 5 or 6 years has been one of the largest alpaca breeders in Europe. Dr.
Whitehead graduated from Edinburgh University’s veterinary school in 1999 and worked
in a practice for 3 years, as well as with the alpacas at home. In March 2002, Dr.
Whitehead came to Ohio State University to work with Dr. David Anderson to improve
her camelid veterinary skills. She began her residency training at OSU in July of
2002, the first program of its kind in the United States that specializes in camelids.
Paul Kezdi is the owner of NorthCoast Alpacas, which was founded
in 1996. Paul is a well know and respected alpaca breeder who has written several
articles regarding various aspects of alpaca ownership and breeding strategies.
During the past several years, Paul has served on the Alpaca Owners and Breeders
Association's National Show Committee and was the first Chairperson of the AOBA
Show Division Ethics Committee authoring a new ethics code for the organization.
Currently, Paul is an apprentice fleece judge and looking forward to becoming a
fully certified judge during the coming year. Last fall, Paul traveled to Peru to
visit a number of top breeding programs and to enjoy Peru's National Alpaca Show.
Paul brings over nine years of experience and a wealth of knowledge to our 101 seminar.
Jim Loy CPA holds an accounting and business administration degree
from Cleveland State University. He is a CPA Partner with Devries, Huntley, Trifiletti
and Loy specializing in small business and closely held companies. He has conducted
numerous seminars in the advantages and accounting requirements of alpaca ownership.
Mr. Loy’s many alpaca breeding business clients have greatly benefited by his expert
guidance.
Carol Zezula, MTPW*, CGS* is principle writer, consultant, and
proprietor of Professional Writing and Editing, LLC. After a successful corporate
career, Carol writes for the business, government, and academic communities. As
a former Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Information Systems Auditor, Carol's
experience lies in business process specializing in small business operations. She
graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Business
Management and holds a Master of Technical and Professional Writing from Northeastern
University in Boston. Carol currently serves on the Michigan International Alpaca
Fest committee and recently began her alpaca breeding business.
